I believe most of you cannot sleep well when you’re stressed. Let’s say you have an important interview tomorrow and you are worried about it. You cannot fail it because that is your dream job. You know you have to sleep early because you have to get up early tomorrow morning. Unfortunately, you can’t sleep because you’re stressed. But luckily, an app called Pzizz can help you sleep well even if you’re stressed. In this post, I am going to tell you why you don’t sleep well when stressed and how to sleep when you’re stressed with the help of Pzizz.
You might be wondering: why we don’t sleep well when stressed
We can’t sleep well when we feel under pressure. This is because sleep and our mood are closely connected.
According to the Division of Sleep Medicine at Harvard Medical School, our bodies are aroused, awake, and alert if we are stressed. Why are our bodies aroused, awake, and alert? This is because stress can activate the defense system of our nervous systems so as to maintain homeostasis (1). If the defense fails, we may not be able to sleep (1).
As stated by the division of Sleep Medicine, if we are under constant stress, we will be more likely to have sleeping problems.
Here’s the deal: Pzizz can help you sleep better even if you’re stressed
After briefly explain why you can’t sleep well due to stress, it’s time to tell you how to solve this sleeping problem. That’s why Pzizz comes in handy! No, it’s not Pizza although Pizza is delicious. It’s Pzizz which is an app that is available on Apple IOS and Android system. It is free and has no advertisements.
So, what is Pzizz? It plays music to creates dynamic dreamscapes that quickly quiet your mind, put you to sleep, keep you asleep, and then wake you up feeling refreshed. So, you can sleep well at night or you can take a good nap during the daytime even if you are stressed.
You might wonder why it can help you sleep better even if you’re stressed. This is because listening music doesn’t only relieve your stress but also help you sleep better.
If you read my previous post about music before, you will know and understand why it can relieve your stress. This is because when you are listening to classical music or music you like, this increases your heart rate variability, meaning that you are getting less stress and greater resilience. If you want to know how to relieve your stress with music, you can read the previous post.
There are many research studies showing that you can have a good sleep while listening to music. For example, according to Gelderse Roos Mental Health Care of Institute for Professionalization in The Netherlands, music can effectively improve our sleeping quality, including those who have difficulties to sleep, based on current scientific evidence (2). This may be because music can influence human emotions in a positive way (2). Also, as reported by Gelderse Roos Mental Health Care, it is not harmful to sleep with the presence of music (2).
Here’s how Pzizz helps you sleep well
It is very easy to use Pzizz. All you need to do is open the app and listen to its music and narration. I am going to show you how to use it.
When you first open the app, you are going to see the instruction screen and then the below screen. You can either choose “Sleep” mode or “Power Nap” mode by tapping the corresponding text. If you want to sleep better, you should choose “Sleep” mode; if you just want to take a good nap, you choose “Power Nap” mode instead.
In this case, I choose “Sleep” mode. Then, you will see the below screen. Before tapping the start, you may want to customize the app like music volume first. If you want to change the setting, you can tap upper right gear icon.
Then in the below, you can change the setting like music and voice volume and music duration. You can also turn on or off the voiceover and set up an alarm in here.
After adjusting the setting, you can tap “Start” and then you have to wait for around 5 seconds. This is because each time you use the app it will generate a unique piece of music. You won’t need to listen to same music over and over again.
Then, that’s it. You can now enjoy the app. But please make sure that your smartphone is not in quiet mode. Otherwise, you will hear nothing. Although the app suggests you use headphones/earbuds for optimal effectiveness, I don’t recommend to do so, especially when you want to use it for sleeping for a long time. This is because wearing headphones/earbuds during sleep may hurt your hearing. So, you can just use your built-in phone speaker because it will work too.
If you still are not sure how to use this app or how to adjust its setting, you can tap the upper left icon and check out the instructions.
NBA Star Roy Hibbert and thousands of others find Pzizz useful
Pzizz is very popular. It is an #1 app in USA, UK, Australia, Canada, India and other countries. For example, on Google Play, nearly 2500 users review it and over 1700 of them rate it a 5 out of 5 stars. The average rating of this app is 4.3 out of 5 stars.
Why is that? Because many people find the app useful, including famous people like NBA Star Roy Hibbert.
“…Hibbert credits the app for helping cure his insomnia and diminish his postgame dependence on Ambien.”
– NBA Star Roy Hibbert speaking to Sports Illustrated
“With pzizz, the effects were both immediate and dramatic. Not only did I fall asleep more easily, I stayed asleep longer and woke up refreshed. I’m most grateful for my pzizz.”
– Clyde Phillips, CT, USA
“While volunteering at an event where four hours of sleep is typical, we “pzizzed” for 20 minutes the morning of our second day, and in 20 minutes I felt as if I’d gained a whole night’s sleep.”
– Dr. Jonathan James Brummel, London, UK
I think Pzizz is very useful for those who can’t sleep well because of stress. When I use the app during the daytime, I feel sleepy even though I had a good sleep at previous night. Also, I did some research on improving sleeping quality and find that listening to music could effectively improve our sleeping quality even if we’re stressed. Thousands of people including celebrities like this app and find it useful. So, I believe this app may work for you if you’re looking for any solution to sleep better when stressed.
